Who we are
The Job List is a local handyman and home-maintenance service operated by Chris Adderley, trading as The Job List. Chris Adderley is responsible for the personal information used by the business.
For privacy questions or requests, email chrisadderley@thejoblist.uk.
Information you give us
When you send a Job List or contact us, we collect the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, phone number, email address, postcode, property type, access and parking information, availability, job descriptions, measurements, product details and photographs. If you book work, we also need the service address and records of your quote, booking, work and payments.
Only send photographs needed to explain the work. Please avoid including people, identity documents, payment details, security codes or unrelated personal belongings. Do not put alarm codes, key-safe codes or passwords into the enquiry form.
Why we use your information
We use your details to review your enquiry and photographs, prepare a quote, contact you, arrange and complete agreed work, manage payments and keep appropriate business records. We also use relevant information to respond to questions, resolve problems and protect the security of our website and business.
We rely on the contract lawful basis when taking steps you request before a booking, such as providing a quote, and when delivering booked services. We rely on legal obligations for records we are required to keep. We rely on legitimate interests where necessary and proportionate to manage general correspondence, resolve complaints, establish or defend legal claims and keep the website secure.
Sending an enquiry does not sign you up for marketing. We will not publish photographs of your property for advertising without asking for separate permission.
Where information is stored and who receives it
Website enquiries and uploaded photographs are processed through our WordPress website, hosted by IONOS, and its Forminator enquiry form. Enquiries are also sent to our business email address, which forwards to the Gmail inboxes used to manage the business. These hosting, form and email services help us receive, store and respond to your enquiry.
If you choose WhatsApp or contact us through it, your messages are handled using WhatsApp as well. We use the contact method you select where practical.
Information may be shared with relevant professional advisers, insurers, payment providers or public authorities where necessary for the work, a claim, payment processing or a legal obligation. We do not sell your personal information.
Some service providers may process information outside the UK. Where a restricted international transfer takes place, appropriate safeguards are required under UK data-protection law. You can contact us for information about the services and arrangements used for your enquiry.
How long we keep information
Copies of enquiries and their uploaded photographs stored in the website form system are scheduled for automatic deletion after 12 months.
Related emails are held separately and are not removed by the website’s automatic deletion process. We review those records and remove information that is no longer needed.
Where an enquiry becomes a booking, relevant quotes, booking details, work records and invoices may be retained separately for tax and accounting obligations, complaints, insurance or legal claims. The period depends on the record and the applicable legal requirements. Photographs are kept with those records only where needed for those purposes.
You can contact us to ask about retention of your particular enquiry or photographs, or to request deletion where applicable.
Website operation and cookies
The website and its hosting services may process technical information, such as IP addresses, browser information and request times, to operate the website and maintain security. WordPress uses cookies for functions such as administrator sign-in. Any optional analytics, advertising or other non-essential technologies introduced later will require an appropriate update to the information and choices provided on this website.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, restrict its use or receive a portable copy. You may also object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal. These rights have limits and do not always require us to delete records that must be kept.
Contact chrisadderley@thejoblist.uk to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity before providing personal information.
Questions and complaints
Please contact us first if you have concerns so we can investigate and respond. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/.

We will update this notice when the way the business handles personal information changes. The date above identifies the current version.
